Denk dat Quarq, SRM en P2m deze problemen ook allemaal wel gekend hebben. Alleen hebben die het opgelost met geld van private investeerders en konden ze nog units a €1.500 p/s verkopen. Nu lijkt de gemiddelde verkoopprijs ergens rond de €500-600 te liggen, dan is de €200 van iQ2 nog wel een flinke stap.

Een beetje ingehaald door de actualiteit

Met de kennis van nu, begin ik me ook wel af te vragen waarom je voor iQ2 zou gaan als de USP's, zoals gemakkelijk wisselen tussen race en MTB er niet meer is en er andere partijen zijn die voor vergelijkbare prijzen een 'bewezen' goed werkend systeem op de markt brengen.

Als backer heb ik in de tussentijd besloten om een powermeter te hebben met een kleinere Q-factor(daarnaast erg blij dat ik niet gewacht heb). Eigenlijk ben ik dus wel blij met de wijziging van de plannen hoewel het tijdsbestek wel weer veel langer gaat worden.

Nu weer een dilemma: neem ik de race of MTB pedalen?

Jammer dat eventueel splitsen niet meer mogelijk is, maar het product ziet er, op het plaatje, mooi uit. En de uitleg is ergens logisch. Vraag is of ze dit niet eerder hadden kunnen weten door naar Limits te kijken, die voor mijn gevoel een soortgelijk probleem had/heeft (mochten er nog mensen zijn die het nog gebruiken)

Komt mij op zich wel goed uit. Was al aan het kijken naar nieuwe pedalen. Rijd nu nog wel een seizoen verder met mijn huidige KEOs, want augustus zal toch wel oktober worden, maar dat maakt niet weinig uit.

Is er iemand die a.d.h.v. het plaatje het "Keo-compatible road pedal" thuis kan brengen?

Lijkt wat op een aantal pedalen van Wellgo, de budget tak van Exustar.
Maar zo te zien is het een CGI dus kan het alle kanten nog op.

Het zijn renderingen, niets wijst erop dat er al een prototype is, dus het daadwerkelijk product (als het ooit zo ver komt) kan er zo maar heel anders uit zien.

Ik twijfel of ik een refund aan ga vragen of toch de pedalen laten komen en dan zelf verkopen. Maar dat zullen vast wel meer mensen doen en het is maar de vraag of je ze wel verkocht krijgt. Vind het jammer dat ze overgaan op pedalen. Had liever het oude ontwerp gehad. Ik twijfel omdat ik look niks vind. Ik rij al jaren shimano en ben daar zeer tevreden mee. Qua mtb pedalen, ik heb altijd veel last van bagger onder schoen en in pedaal. Gezien het ontwerp van IQ2 denk ik niet dat het geschikte pedalen voor mij zijn.

Edit: Ze doen geen refunds voor kickstarter en indiegogo funders. Jammer. Dan wachten we de mtb pedalen wel af en zie ik wel wat ik ermee ga doen terzijne tijd. Verwacht ze pas over 2 jaar binnen te krijgen als 1 van de laatste backers(als ze uberhaupt wel binnen komen)

Update

Before and after our last major update on May 3rd, we’ve been developing our roadmap. We are running two trajectories in parallel: the creation of our test pedal power meters and the production of the actual product. So, what has been accomplished so far?

Test Power Meter

We’re almost done producing the test power meters: the axles are finished and the sensors are being applied on them by SMD Sensors in the UK as we speak. The axle + sensor combos are due to arrive in our office next week. The plastic material of the test pedals has been 3D printed and the metal parts have been developed, ordered and will arrive next week as well. The Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) have undergone some modifications in size and component placement and have already been delivered.

The PCBs have been trimmed and just arrived in the office.

Concerning the actual production that follows the test power meter phase, we’ve developed the following:

#1 The plastic molds - produced by Metron, The Netherlands - are now undergoing production, it’s a process that takes six weeks;
#2 We’ve secured mass-production sourcing for the metal parts (internal adapter, helicoils, screws, bearings, etc.) and are ready to order when testing of the test power meter above is done;
#3 Other parts are ready to be ordered once the test power meter has been approved by us and other parties;
#4 Our strain gauge partner, SMD Sensors in the UK, is ready for mass-production when we are. For now they are applying the strain gauge to the axle;

#5 We’re also preparing a method of low-pressure molding called ‘potting’ that will enable us to create dust free and waterproof products at the end. We’re working on that and will keep you updated.

If I ordered the previous power meter, how do I inform iQsquare of my choice whether I want a mountain bike or road bike pedal? Will you ask us in an email? We will be sending an email confirmation soon to you and all other backers confirming if you want an MTB or a Road bike power meter pedal.

I’m a crowdfunding backer from Kickstarter or Indiegogo. Why do I not receive a refund when this is not the product I ordered? First of all, thank you again for backing our crowdfunding campaign! Without you we wouldn’t have gotten to where we are right now. You cannot cancel your pledge as the money funded by our backers has been used as an investment into the production of the power meters.

We are doing this for the cycling community, so that this useful tool is obtainable even for people with not so much money who are just priced out in the current situation. We understand that some of you are disappointed, but also hope you can remember the bigger picture: you are part of this project, to give everyone in the cycling community the opportunity to be able to train and ride with the insightful pacing tool that is a power meter.

When are you going to start shipping the pedal power meters?

Ik hoop dat ze nog diepe zakken hebben. Je definitieve molds laten maken, nog voordat je ook maar één as met strain gauge getest hebt. Kans wel heel groot dat die over een paar weken waardeloos blijken te zijn.
