Nou heb ze besteld. Hoop dat ik ze voor de ronde van Vlaanderen heb.
Van welk jaar?
Niet lullig bedoeld hoor, ik wacht ook nog maar ruim een jaar...
2020 obv
Lijkt te gaan lukken.
Dear Jan,
You ordered one or more power meter(s) with iQsquare. We communicated we expected to
deliver to you early this summer, but we have to adapt this estimation to September 2020.
Through this email we’d like to give you some more insight into what it takes to get a power
meter delivered to your doorstep and where we encounter a delay.
Production Process
The power meter consists of 36 separate components and another 51 micro-components on
the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The entire process looks like this:
It all starts with a bare axle that arrives to our sensor-making partners in the UK, who sputter the sensor onto it. The axle with sensor then crosses the North Sea and arrives to the PCB-manufacturer in the Netherlands. At this company, all separate components get soldered and installed onto the flex-rigid PCBs, turning them into PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies). The PCBAs are placed on the axle and are transferred to our plastic-producing partner in Amsterdam that simultaneously functions as the assembly line.
In Amsterdam, the housing of the pedal is produced through injection molding.
Molds of the pedal backside
The plastic pieces, standard parts, battery contacts and pedal springs come together in the assembly line where 16 tools are used to assemble all components of the pedal power meters.

After assembly, a calibration, and testing, the power meters are packaged and moved to a fulfilment center from where they’ll be shipped to you.
Hiccups
At this point we encounter a delay in the flex-rigid PCB production. Due to Covid-19, the lead time of these flex-rigid PCBs is considerably longer than expected. Because this delay occurs at an early production stage, the entire lead time is affected. All manufacturers are back up to speed now however, so we foresee no issues with September deliveries.
